During the Californian event the US automaker has showcased the new Colorado ZR2, pretty much the most off-road capable version of the midsize pickup truck.The new version is even better at going further (and farther) than the existing Z71 package and we already had hints that Chevrolet was going to reintroduce the ZR2 nameplate since back in 2014 when the diesel Colorado ZR2 concept was presented at the same venue.Because were dealing with a proper off-roader, the production ready Colorado ZR2 has been mostly enhanced at the suspension level â€" theres a two inch lift, ne w durable cast-iron control arms to widen the track by 3.5 inches, ZR2-specific 17×8-inch wheels shod in 31-inch Goodyear Duratrac tires â€" all proven at off-road parks in a dozen states, including the challenging Rubicon Trail.

Photo GalleryChevrolets Colorado lineup has just welcomed a new performance halo model, dubbed the ZR2 and set to debut at Los Angeles Auto Show Although the Colorado ZR2 is based around the standard Colorado, it incorporates a plethora of changes, including a significantly wider track as well as lifted suspension.This new suspension setup consists of Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve damper technology and is the first time Multimatics DSSV suspension system has been used for off-road purposes.The DSSV dampers were first used by the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and offer a number of performance advantages, according to Chevrolet.In particular, the dampers offer supreme ride comfort and handling performance both on- and off-road when compared to typical dampers.For the Colorado ZR2, they include aluminium bodies each of which houses two spool valves providing compression and rebound damping.
